Dr William Manyama

William Manyama has been lecturing at the Institute of Social Work in Tanzania since 2008. He is a PhD holder in Sociology, from the University of Dar es Salaam.  His academic background reflects an interest in understanding the relationship between humans and their environment from a range of perspectives. He is fluent in Swahili, English and Norwegian.

William Manyama has wide experiences in training, research and consultancy. His areas of interests, expertise in trainings and research include; Sociology, Social Research, Social Policy, Social administration, Social Welfare Services and Project Planning and Management. William Manyama has also been consulted for various professional activities i.e. curriculum development and review, research projects, GBV and VAC trainings, assistance in recruitment exercises etc. Further, he has published more than 10 journal articles; written four Social Work related Books and two book chapters and presented different papers in different conferences, seminars, workshops, and symposiums.  He has recently been involved in assessing the Capacity of Community Health and Social Welfare Systems in the country under consultancy commissioned by MoHCDGEC, PO RALG and JSI.

Apart from been engaged in academic affairs, William Manyama has held different administrative positions including the current position of Head of Social Work Department at the Institute of Social Work. He is also serving as a country Assistant Coordinator for NORHED II Project titled: Building Resilient Communities through Inclusive Education in Eastern Africa.
