Sylvie Ingabire holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with honors in Social Work from the University of Rwanda. As a student she worked as a social work intern at Child
and Community Development Programs (CCDP) where she instructed rural women about
saving groups and assisted with the sponsorship program helping children with
disabilities to get access to healthcare. She also worked as a volunteer English teacher
at Up Child Rwanda, a local organization for street children.
After graduating, she has worked at the University of Global Health Equity as a Teaching Assistant in their Humanities and Social Sciences Department. She works at the University of Rwanda as a Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Development Studies and the Department of Social Sciences in the School of Social Studies and Governance, where she assists in teaching courses of Human Rights, Social Justice , Community Empowerment, Gender Development and Inclusion and Diversity as well as assists in developing learning materials, marking and attending other academic related activities the University of Rwanda.
Currently, she is pursuing her Masters in Social Work at the Institute of Social Work in Dar
Es Salaam. Her publication will be focused on women’s empowerment, and the inequalities and injustices faced by women in the labor market and other economic and social areas, as well as the importance of embracing diversity and promoting inclusion and Gender and Development.
Sylvie has a passion for helping people and is a strong believer that education, community engagement, and inclusion of the marginalized are essential to creating a just and equitable society. In her free time she enjoys reading good books (fiction and non fiction), travelling, praying, painting and hanging out with friends.
