Daniel Kabuka is currently studying for a Master’s Degree of Social Work at the Institute of Social Work, Tanzania, under the sponsorship of a 6-year project “Building Resilient Communities through Inclusive Education in East Africa” (RESILIENT Project) under NORHED. He holds a Bachelors Degree of Social Work from University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
He has excelled in his expertise and knowledge of social work by working with both government agencies and private organizations (NGOs). Daniel has previously worked with Management and Development for Health (MDH) which is under GLOBAL FUND, CDC and PEPFAR where he worked to help people living with HIV/AIDs, TB and Key Vulnerable Populations) (KPI). He has learned more about public health interventions and policies.
He also served as volunteer Social Welfare Officer in different government agencies in the Department of Social Welfare Services where he performed various duties including GBV and VAC, youth development programs, matrimonial services, working with marginalized groups like children, women, elders and people with disabilities.
Daniel believes in education and entrepreneurship as a way to improve one’s economic growth through social support networks. He is the Co-Founder of the charitable organization known as Givers Achievers Foundation (GAF) which aims to provide and empower people who are in need, specifically elders, orphans, people with disabilities and other people in need by offering them material assistance, financial support, education, guidance and counseling. The contributions come from members and other individuals who volunteer to help.
He is now in Social Labs with the RESILIENT Project at Mkaseka village in Tanzania where he works with elderly to strengthen their capabilities in reducing poverty and vulnerability. His research study is to explore the challenges facing elderly beneficiaries in utilizing cash transfer in rural areas.
